Lucy Hutchins Aermec’s health, safety, environment & quality manager is a strong advocate of policies, procedures and training that fosters an environment where employees health and safety are valued.

Although employers have a legal duty to provide adequate health and safety training Lucy is passionate about developing a safety culture that goes beyond compliance by encouraging open communication, engaging staff and providing them with training and competences that can enhance overall safety.

Lucy believes in equipping employees with knowledge and skills and provides weekly training sessions covering a wide range of topics including essential first aid skills that and includes CPR, the recovery position, and how to use an AED (defibrillator). 

Training is ongoing an covers many more areas including risk assessment, fire safety and keep employees up to date about workplace safety and procedures.

“Health and safety is everyone’s business, and it is for anywhere at any time,” says Lucy.

“Aermec wants to promote a safe working environment with a strong positive safety culture that is an integral part of our company, which enables us all to better comply with industry standards and regulations.”

Workplaces that engage employees in making decisions about health and safety and more likely to be safer and healthier working environments. Fostering cooperation empowers staff with the confidence and knowledge to assist others should an emergency arise.
