Aermec sponsors vital life-saving service

Aermec UK is proud to announce support for BASICS Essex ‘Sponsor a Clinician’ initiative which helps fund volunteer medical professionals – doctors and paramedics – respond to emergencies.

Recognising the vital role BASICS Essex plays in supporting emergency medical response through its membership of the Essex Chamber of Commerce. Aermec decided to contribute as BASICS Essex relies solely on corporate sponsorship to support its growing team of volunteer clinicians who are on call at the request of the East of England Ambulance Service. The service works alongside and supplements the work done by ambulance clinicians.

“BASICS Essex ‘Sponsor a Clinician’ initiative is quite unique in its focus unlike other programmes that focus on equipment or infrastructure, this initiative directly supports volunteer clinicians, enabling them to dedicate their expertise where it’s needed most,” says Lucy Hutchins, Aermec’s UK’s health, safety, environment & quality manager.

Aermec has pledged to sponsor Paul Gates for £1,000 per year for two years. This will ensure BASIC Essex has the resources needed to rapidly respond to emergencies across Essex and will potentially reduce response times and improve patient outcomes for people across Essex.

“The team and I are incredibly grateful to Aermec UK for their generous support and for helping us continue to deliver critical pre-hospital care to those who need it most in Essex,” comments Paul Gates, critical care paramedic volunteer responder.

BASICS Essex has responded to over 700 emergency call outs in the past five years. These include road traffic accidents, cardiac arrests, and other critical incidents. In many instances the team arrives before ambulance crews and provides life-saving care.
